9. Symposium zur ägyptischen Königsideologie

Egyptian royal ideology and kingship under periods of foreign rulers ‒ case studies from the First Millennium BCE

31.05.2018 – 02.06.2018

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to send you the final programme of the next session of the series dedicated to Egyptian Royal Ideology (Symposium zur ägyptischen Königsideologie).

As already announced, the 2018 conference will be hosted by Julia Budka and the venue will be the Institute of Egyptology of the Ludwig-Maximilians University, Munich, Germany (Katharina von Bora Strasse 10, 80333 Munich). Please note that the evening lecture by Angelika Lohwasser on June 1 will take place in the main building of LMU, in the “Senatssaal” (E 110) (a walk of c. 20 min).

Papers should not exceed 30 min, allowing 15 min for questions and discussion.

All confirmed papers will approach the general topic “Egyptian royal ideology and kingship under periods of foreign rulers” from various perspectives. One of the focal points will be on the Kushite period, including new results from current fieldwork. Further case studies will focus on distinct features of kingship of foreigners ruling Egypt during the First Millennium BCE. The abstracts of the papers will be available online in due time.

We advise all of you not to wait too long for booking rooms in Munich. As two quite low priced hotels we can recommend Hotel Marienbad München (http://www.hotelmarienbad.de/) and Hotel Amba (http://www.hotel-amba.de/de/home/). The first is located very close to the Institute, the latter directly at the main train station.

If you should have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us and in particular the host of the upcoming event, Julia Budka: koenigsideologie2018@gmail.com

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you in Munich.

With very best wishes,

Horst Beinlich
